| ‘Statisticians should thank the
authors for continuing to keep student, teacher and researcher
up-to-date.’ Short Book Reviews
Key Features:
- An advanced text and comprehensive reference for modern
statistical distributions and related sampling theory
- Covers both univariate and multivariate distributions
in depth, with a systematic development of the theory
- Includes extensive worked examples and end-of-chapter
exercises
- Cross-referenced to the other volumes in Kendall’s
Advanced Theory of Statistics.
Description:
Volume 1 of The Advanced Theory of Statistics is an advanced
comprehensive reference for modern statistical distributions
and related sampling theory. This sixth edition has been significantly
changed and improved. A largely new Chapter 7 now provides
a unified treatment of bivariate and multivariate distributions.
Elsewhere, major updates include new material on skewness
and kurtosis, hazard rate distributions, the bootstrap, the
evaluation of the multivariate normal integral and ratios
of quadratic forms. The new edition includes over 200 additional
references, 40 new exercises and 20 further examples in the
main text. In addition, the text examples are listed at the
front of the book for easier reference.
Readership:
All statisticians, at all levels.
